       Sun's apparent path is called the Ecliptic.The zodiac is a circle of space surrounding the earth and is an imaginary belt in the heaven in which the planets travel.The Zodiacal circle is divided into twelve parts,called the signs of Zodiac,Each part of the Zodiac containing 30 degrees.The one /twelth division of the Zodiac,the sign is containing 30 degrees of celestial longitude.Around this circle the plants travel in its orbit,going through from one sign to the other and completing the whole Zodiac.

       So the Zodiac in which earth and all the planets are permanently jailed by gravitation and revolve round the sun.This is devided by 12 clusters of stars and each termed as Rasi or Sign.In fact stars are stationary and they do not change their positions.The motion of the earth around the sun once a year causes the sun to pass through one of the 12 signs each month.Its influence,according to place,determines not only the reasons but the general nature and the gharacter of the individuals born at that particular time.The other planets,travel around the Zodiac,exert an influence according ti their natures and in accordance with the quality of aspects which they from.

       According to Vedic astrology based on Nirayana system the Sun enters vaisaka the first Indiyan month on 13 th April of each year.After a month he enters the next Sign.As such,the Sun teavels the 12 signs in an year.
